PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Families of autistic children spent a fun day at the zoo with a scavenger hunt on Tuesday.

Autism Speaks and Hersha Hospitality Management, or HHM a hospitality investment firm, hosted area families of autistic children at the zoo.

Teams were given scavenger hunt sheets to participate in a seek and find. Kids were able to brush a rare goat, visit the 13-foot gorilla sculpture and march like an ant in front of the insect's enclosure.

Lisa Trimboli of Northeast Philadelphia was there with her autistic son, three-year-old Jack.

"He is a very, very visual leaner so for him to see things and experience things is really how he learns."

April is Autism Awareness Month, HHM raised more than $50,000 for autism so far.
