Expert Says to Turn Electronics Off in Your Hot Car
We have another heat wave to contend with this week and while humans can get out of the hot temperatures, sometimes personal electronics cannot.
KYW's Kim Glovas reports if you are experiencing problems with a cell phone, laptop, or an iPod that has been left in a hot vehicle this summer, it might be because the heat has damaged that gizmo.
Dr. Alfonso Ortega is associate dean of Villanova's College of Engineering:
"Laptop computers, iPods, cellular telephones, if you leave them on inside an automobile, in the very hot climate, they might potentially fail. They require a certain air temperature to cool and if that air temperature skyrockets, then potentially, those electronics could fail."
Ortega says however, it depends if they were turned on while inside that hot car. If they were turned off, you might be spared any overwhelming problems.
