Amityville school district could close Northeast Elementary due to budget cuts
During an Amityville school board meeting Wednesday, parents were told by the superintendent the district needs to slash $4.5 million from the budget for the next fiscal year. That could mean closing Northeast Elementary, eliminating eight teachers and 30 staff.
