The incident happened last Friday around 1:40 p.m. near East 183rd Street in the Belmont section of the borough.
Police said the suspect came up behind a 27-year-old woman, pushed her to the ground and then repeatedly punched her in the face before sexually assaulting her.
Clive Rosario, 26, was arrested Wednesday on sexual abuse and criminal sex act charges, police said.
