Yankees Triple-A Farm Team Changing Names In 2012
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees will have a temporary name this season — the Empire State Yankees.
New York's Triple-A farm team has been forced to shift its home from Moosic, Pa., because of a planned reconstruction of PNC Park. The Yankees will play 37 home games in Rochester, with the rest split among various sites.
The team plans to have Empire State Yankees caps and T-shirts for sale. The temporary name change was announced Wednesday.
