Jersey City Manhole Rescue Turns Out To Be False Alarm
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Turns out it was a false alarm.
After spending three hours scrambling to rescue what was believed to be a man who fell down a manhole in Jersey City, rescuers came up with garbage.
Literally.
Rescue workers responded to the scene at Halliday and Forrest Streets. They set up equipment to go hunting for what they believed was a worker who fell into the manhole.
They donned hazardous materials suits and entered the narrow space.
All they turned up was a bag of garbage.
