NYPD: Woman Found Dead In Trunk Of Car In Queens, 4 Men In Custody

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There was a disturbing discovery in Queens, where a woman was found dead in the trunk of a car.

Several people are now in custody.

As CBS2's Ali Bauman reports, police are canvassing the area and trying to identify the woman, whose body was carried out of a home early Wednesday morning and found in the back of a car.

Investigators searched the car near Nassau Expressway and Bayview Avenue Wednesday morning.

Police followed the car there just before 2 a.m. after sources tell CBS2 the officers observed four men near Foam Place in Rockaway struggling to load a large and suspicious object in the trunk before driving off.

When police pulled the car over, they discovered an unidentified woman unconscious and unresponsive, wrapped in a blanket in the trunk.

EMS pronounced the woman dead at the scene, and police took the four men into custody.

The medical examiner is working to determine the woman's cause of death.

Charges for the four men are pending. Sources tell CBS2 they were already under surveillance by the NYPD as part of an unrelated investigation. Police are probing a possible gang link.
