Wheelchair Of Injured Iraq War Veteran Returned

HOLBROOK, NY (CBSNewYork) – The wheelchair of a Long Island Army veteran who lost both his legs while serving in Iraq has been returned.

Christopher Levi's wheelchair was discovered in the woods not far from his Holbrook home.

Police say a driver called them after spotting the wheelchair, which has a large embroidered Purple Heart on the back, near the intersection of Patchogue-Holbrook Road and Broadway Avenue Thursday afternoon.

Last week, the $3,000 custom-made wheelchair was stolen from outside Levi's home on Mollie Boulevard.

Now that he has it back, Levi says he forgives whoever stole his chair.

"If it was a group of young kids, I hope they learned. If it was an older person, you should know better," he said.

Levi was awarded a Purple Heart after he was injured in 2008 by a roadside bomb in Iraq.
