12/14 CBS2 Wednesday Afternoon Weather Headlines

It's by no means warm outside, but you almost want to say enjoy it! We'll top out around 40 this afternoon under partly sunny skies. Then tonight, the bitter cold we've been talking about arrives.
Waking up Thursday morning, temps will be in the lower 20s, with wind chills in the single digits and teens. We won't improve much either, with temps hanging in the 20s all day. Friday morning will be the worst as temps drop into the teens around the city, and single digits north and west. With those brisk NW winds, it'll feel closer to zero out the door Friday... even below zero in the NW suburbs!
As the cold air streams down, we have to keep in a chance for passing snow showers and flurries at any time tonight and tomorrow. It won't amount to anything (maybe a coating in localized spots). That's not the case to start the weekend, as we watch another wintry mess move in early Saturday. There could be some accumulation before a changeover to rain, so check back as we get closer. Bundle up!
