FDNY: 30 Hurt When New York Water Taxi Hits Ramp In Hudson River

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Thirty people were injured when a New York water taxi made a hard landing into a ramp in the Hudson River.

The vessel was coming from New Jersey when it struck an access ramp at West 39th Street and 12th Avenue shortly after 4 p.m.

"This afternoon, as it was approaching the pier, it was going a little faster than normal. It was reversing, didn't reverse as quickly as he thought, and hit the pier abruptly," FDNY Manhattan Borough Commander Roger Sakowich told CBS2's Jessica Moore. "People were getting ready to disembark, and a lot of them were thrown forward."

The FDNY said the injuries range from minor to serious, though none are life threatening.
