Water Main Break Knocks Out Power To Midtown Hotel

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A water main break in midtown Manhattan overnight temporarily knocked out power to a midtown Manhattan luxury hotel.

The fire department says the break occurred at 12:44 a.m. Monday when a contractor struck a pipe.

It knocked out power to the New York Palace hotel at Madison and 50th and also flooded part of the East Side Access project, which will bring trains from Long Island to Grand Central.

The situation was brought under control at 3:15 a.m. and power to the hotel was restored.
