Wall Township Man Charged In Alleged Shovel Attack On Municipal Worker
WALL, N.J. (AP) -- Aggravated assault and weapons charges have been filed against a central New Jersey man who allegedly hit a municipal public works employee in the head with a snow shovel.
Wall police tell the Asbury Park Press that crews were trying to repair a water main break when 47-year-old township resident Michael Gallagher approached them around 9:15 a.m. Friday. Authorities believe Gallagher may have been angry about traffic problems caused by the break and the equipment on scene.
Authorities say the worker was treated for head and hand injuries.
A telephone number for Gallagher could not be located Saturday. It was not known if he has retained a lawyer.
