Wake To Be Held For Christina Santiago, Bronx Native Killed In Stage Collapse At Indiana State Fair

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- One of the victim's of the deadly stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair will be remembered Thursday at a wake in the Bronx.

Christina Santiago, 29, was one of five people killed Saturday night when a strong gust of wind knocked over steel rigging.

The wind gust, reportedly more than 60 miles per hour, dragged at the stage rigging. The stage buckled and then collapsed into the crowd.

Santiago grew up in the Bronx but had been living in Chicago, where she managed a program at a health care center.

She was known as a dedicated women's health and gay rights advocate.

Santiago was at the state fair for a Sugarland concert with her partner, Alisha Brennon, who was severely injured.

A wake will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Riverdale on Hudson Funeral Home.

Santiago will be laid to rest Friday at Saint Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
