Caught On Video: Group Violently Robs East Village Man Of Boots, Jacket, Sunglasses And $1

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The NYPD wants your help identifying four people caught on video in a violent, broad-daylight mugging in the East Village.

It happened Saturday at 12:25 p.m. at Avenue C near East 3rd Street.

Police say the victim was walking along when two people approached him to talk. Two others then also walked up, and then all four attacked the victim. They beat him up until he fell to the street, where they continued punching and kicking him.

They stole his jacket, boots, sunglasses, and $1, police said.

"I think it's really messed up what they did," one person told CBS2's Andrea Grymes.

"That's crazy. That's just crazy," said another.

"Who would do something like that in broad daylight? It's ridiculous. It's crazy," said Ariel Jones, who works nearby.

"I see the kind of people who hang around this area and I'm not surprised. You know, I'm not surprised at all," said Brandon Cone, who works nearby.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with cuts and and bruises. He was treated and released.

"To the family, man, I'm just sorry that happened to him," Jones said.

Police say the attackers were three women and a man. Two of the women have been arrested. Police hope two more arrests quickly follow.
