VIDEO: Brilliant Or Bush League? Isles' AHL Goalie Makes Quite A 'Save'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- This is definitely one you don't see every day.

David Leggio was sent down to Bridgeport of the AHL after spending some time at Islanders training camp. The 30-year-old has since struggled a bit as a backup to Kevin Poulin.

But he definitely got some attention on Sunday when he took an unorthodox approach to stopping a breakaway against Springfield. After his teammates turned the puck over at center ice, sending the Falcons in on a 2-on-0 break, Leggio decided to knock the goal off its moorings rather than face a scoring chance that had the odds stacked against him.

Rather than call a delay of game penalty, the referees awarded Springfield a penalty shot, which Leggio sent aside with a pad save.

Bridgeport went on to lose 4-3, dropping its record to 5-3-1.
