Giants' Victor Cruz On WFAN: My Knee Is 100 Percent And I'm Ready To Go

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Ten months away has been long enough.

Speaking to WFAN's Mike Francesa on Monday at Giants training camp in East Rutherford, New Jersey, wide receiver Victor Cruz made it clear that he's fully recovered from the knee injury that cost him the final 10 games of the 2014 season.

"I feel good. The knee is 100 percent," Cruz said. "(Sunday) was probably my most physically enduring practice in terms of limitations. They've been keeping me down to a certain number of plays per day so (Sunday) was probably my most practice. I felt good. I woke up this morning, felt good, no pain, no swelling. I feel like I've crossed that bridge."

Cruz, who will turn 29 on Nov. 11, said he hopes to make his preseason debut during the Giants' game against visiting Jacksonville on Saturday night.

"I'm ready to play, yes, absolutely," Cruz told Francesa, adding when asked if he has any concerns, "I think it's just getting back to that speed, acclimating myself to that speed again. It's been 10 months since I've been out there. Game speed, game time, so that will be the only adjustment, getting used to that game speed again."

The Giants figure to be loaded in a version of the West Coast offense that quarterback Eli Manning mastered as last season progressed. And the veteran signal caller had one of the best seasons of his career without eventual Offensive Rookie of the Year Odell Beckham Jr. for the season's first four games and then Cruz over the season's final two and a half months.

As long as their offensive line does its job, the Giants figure to be scary at the skill positions in 2015. The return of Cruz, the addition of versatile running back Shane Vereen and veteran receiver James Jones, and the further development of Beckham, receiver Rueben Randle and tight end Larry Donnell could make for matchup nightmares for opponents all season.

"In my opinion, it's probably the most targets Eli has ever had here," Cruz said of the potential lineup on offense. "I think there's a lot of talent here. We're all excited about the things that could happen here. We're all excited to have our (roles) … and play our roles and really go out there and be great.  And we want to be in a position to win a Super Bowl."

Cruz has 264 receptions, 3,963 yards and 24 touchdowns in four NFL seasons.
