Vice President Biden Tours Devastation Across New Jersey Left Behind By Sandy

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Vice President Joe Biden toured some storm-ravaged parts of New Jersey to see firsthand the devastation left behind by superstorm Sandy.

The vice president surveyed the damage along the Jersey shoreline by helicopter, then met with about 50 first responders in Seaside Heights.

Biden's visit to the Garden State also included a stop in storm-ravaged Hoboken, which was inundated by flood waters.

President Obama toured New Jersey in the days following Sandy and was recently in New York to visit some of the hardest hit communities.

Biden is just the latest Obama administration official to visit New Jersey.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan have also recently visited to survey the devastation left behind.

Speaking in Middletown on Friday, the two Cabinet members acknowledged the rebuilding effort could take years in some of the most decimated areas.
