Two Vatican Flags Stolen Off Pole Outside Church In Midtown
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Parishioners are in disbelief after someone stole the Vatican flag outside their Manhattan church not once, but twice.
The Church of Saint Agnes on East 43rd Street had a Vatican flag on display ahead of the pope's visit, but it was stolen last week and later found shredded on the church steps, CBS2 reported.
The church ordered another flag and put it up Monday, but the very next day, workers said someone stole the new flag as well.
"I think it's dreadful in this day and age," parishioner Dee Wills said. "It's unbelievable that something like that should happen to someone so important."
A worker at the church said the same day the second Vatican flag was stolen, someone also stole the church's American flag, CBS2 reported.
So far there have been no arrests.
