Two Women Injured Following Accident Involving Alleged Car Thief In The Bronx

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Two women were seriously injured on Sunday when a stolen SUV slammed into their car.

A Dodge Durango, that was allegedly stolen by a 36-year-old man, slammed into a Saturn Sudan being driven by a nurses aide and her coworker.

First responders used the Jaws of Life to free the two women before rushing them to Jacobi Hospital. The woman in the passenger seat suffered potentially life threatening leg and head injuries and the driver received hip and arm injuries.

The driver of the Durango, who has not been identified, has at least seven priors including assault, drugs, and weapons charges, according to police.

Westchester police were pursuing the man at the time of the accident, he allegedly stole the SUV from the parking lot of a Fairway Market in Pelham Manor.
