Tony's Table: Shrimp Fra Diavolo
NEW YORK (CBS 2) - Want to start off the new year with a little kick? CBS 2's Tony Tantillo with a great shrimp dish that will be a family pleaser!
Shrimp Fra Diavolo
1/2 lb. linguini
1/2 lb. shrimp, peeled and de-veined
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
1/4 cup olive oil
3 cloves chopped garlic
2 oz. red pepper flakes
1 oz. fresh oregano
2 oz. fresh basil
Prepare pasta:
- Cook linguini for 7-8 minutes in a pot of salted, boiling water.
Prepare shrimp (while pasta cooks):
- Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in pan, then add garlic.
- Once the garlic is translucent, add shrimp and 1 oz. of red pepper flakes to pan.
- Saute for 2-3 minutes, until shrimp is pink all over.
- Remove from pan and set aside.
Prepare sauce:
- Add tomato sauce into same pan, along with the rest of the olive oil and red pepper flakes.
- When sauce is heated, return shrimp to the pan.
- Allow to simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Add oregano, parsley, and basil, along with salt & pepper to taste, then serve over a generous bed of linguini.
(Note: Cooking times can vary by equipment. Be sure that shrimp is fully cooked before serving.)
