TLC To Let Uber Drivers Return To Street Hails With Yellow Cabs
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York City is letting some drivers who ditched their yellow cabs for black ones do a U-turn.
As WCBS 880's Alex Silverman reported, for almost 20 years only new cars could become cabs.

Now, the Taxi and Limousine Commission has decided to try letting the older cars turn yellow.
"Probably within six months or so we'll know if there's any interest in it at all," said TLC Commissioner Meera Joshi.
Michael Woloz, a lobbyist for yellow cab medallion owners, said he expects Uber drivers to see this as a way to switch back.
"We've heard from many drivers, and seen many yellow cab drivers who wanted to see if the grass was greener on the other side, so to speak and regret it," he said.
Uber doesn't seem to be bothered by the move. A spokesman said anything that opens up more opportunities for drivers is great for riders and great for cities.
