NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were searching for a woman who allegedly punched another woman in the head during a quarrel in the Times Square-42nd Street subway passageway this past winter.

Around 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, a 54-year-old woman was walking through the pedway, which connects the 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal station at Eighth Avenue and the Times Square-42nd Street station at Seventh Avenue, police said.

The woman got into a quarrel with another woman, and after a brief struggle, the suspect punched the victim in the head – causing severe pain, police said.

The suspect then walked away, police said. The victim was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital for head injuries, police said.

The attacker was described as a black female about in her 30s, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall. She had brown eyes and an afro, and was last seen wearing a black jacket and a black scarf, police said.

Police released a surveillance photo captured by the victim before the incident.
