Tim Hardaway, Jr. On WFAN: Knicks Will Make The Playoffs

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- We're all tied up!

With six games remaining on their regular-season schedule, the Knicks are now tied with the Hawks for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Hawks were up one game heading into Wednesday night's action, but New York crushed the Nets and Atlanta fell to the Bulls.

The 33-43 'Bockers have now won 12 of 15 games. What has gotten into them?

"I guess it's just the will to win out there," Knicks shooting guard Tim Hardaway, Jr. told WFAN co-hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Thursday morning. "I think we're just out there just giving it all we got. We know we've got a little bit more games left, and we're just trying to make that last playoff push; to at least get in the eighth spot, or a chance to get in the seventh spot."

The Knicks have a very difficult remaining schedule. After hosting the Wizards at Madison Square Garden on Friday night, the Knicks will take on the Heat and the Raptors on the road before returning home to square off against the Bulls. The final two games are against the Nets (road) and the Raptors (home).

The Hawks' remaining schedule includes games against the Cavaliers, the Pacers, the Pistons, the Celtics, the Nets, the Heat, the Bobcats and the Bucks.

"I'd be lying if we said we weren't looking at the standings," the rookie told Boomer & Carton. "We've got a big old board in there to see who's in the standings in the Eastern Conference. But we definitely just try to key in on ourselves most importantly because we're the ones that create our own destiny. So we're just trying to go out there, have fun.

"But at the same time we know what we have to do in order to try to get wins and make a playoff push. Atlanta's a very, very great team ... They've been in the playoff push so we're in the same boat as they are, so we're not gonna focus in on that right now. We're just gonna focus in on ourselves."

So does Hardaway, Jr. think the Knicks will make the playoffs?

"Yes," he told the radio duo. "That's what we're aiming for. Hopefully we get there. We have everything in the world to get us there. But we just gotta control our own destiny, like I said before, and go out there and just try to take it."
