3 Teens Arrested On Long Island, Accused Of Plotting To Bomb Their High School

BOHEMIA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – An apparent plan to bomb a school on Long Island has been thwarted.

Suffolk County police announced that they have arrested three 16-year-olds - two boys and a girl - Thursday.

The teens are accused of conspiring to build a bomb and detonate it at Connetquot High School.

The suspects were reported to police after several students reportedly overheard the three discussing their plan on Wednesday.

A copy of the "Anarchist Cookbook," which contains bomb making instructions, was also found at one of the teens' homes.

"Detectives recovered one bb gun, two bb long guns, two laptops," authorities added Thursday evening.

"It's scary that i have to worry about, as a teenager, worry about…okay maybe this guy has a bomb in his backpack," Suffolk County resident Michael Bervine said.

Police say the students were arraigned in a youth courtroom here in Central Islip. They were both charged with conspiracy which is felony.

Authorities said that due to the age of the suspects involved in the plot, their names will not be released to the public.
