Teen Falls To Death While Jumping Between Buildings In Hell's Kitchen
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 15-year-old girl was dead after falling between buildings in Hell's Kitchen.
Officers responding to a 911 call found Natalya Jimenez unconscious and unresponsive in an alleyway at 699 Tenth Ave., near 48th Street.
The girl had been jumping from roof to roof with friends when she fell, 1010 WINS reported.
Jimenez was with two 14-year-old friends at the time of the accident.
After jumping three roofs, the group turned to go back, but Jimenez slipped and fell into an alleyway, 1010 WINS reported.
Teenagers apparently hang out on the rooftops, but the girls got in trouble when one of them tried to cross an air shaft.
When Jimenez didn't make it, her horrified friends ran for help.
Jimenez was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
As CBS2's Brian Conybeare reported, residents placed candles outside of the building in remembrance of Jimenez.
"It was a thump and she was crouched, that's what I saw," a woman who lives in the building said.
Angel Rivera lives in the building and has been on the roof.
"It's a pretty big gap. It's a pretty scary jump, I don't know what they were thinking," Angel said, "Not a place you really want to play a game at you know."
Jimenez's family owns a pizza shop on Ninth Avenue in Chelsea. Her heartbroken mother and family came to the scene on Friday night, but were too afraid to say anything.
