Police: Man Pushes Teenage Girl Onto Tracks In Queens With Train Approaching
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is searching for a suspect who pushed a teenage girl onto the tracks Saturday night in Queens as a train was approaching.
Police said the incident took place shortly after 8:30 p.m. at the Roosevelt Avenue and 103rd Street subway station.
A 17-year-old old was on the westbound 7 train platform when an unknown man approached her from behind and pushed her on the tracks as the train was approaching.
The train's motorman saw the girl on the tracks and was able to activate the emergency brake.
The girl was able to position herself between the platform and the train's wheels, police said.
She was taken to Elmhurst hospital with only minor injuries.
The male suspect fled the station toward the street following the incident.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately mid-to-late 20s, 5-foot-5, and last seen wearing a black jacket, white t-shirt, gray pants and white sneakers.
