Teacher Who Did Time For Child Porn Vanishes From Halfway House
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A former Long Island elementary school teacher who served a 6 1/2-year prison term for downloading child pornography has now disappeared from the halfway house where he was living in Brooklyn.
Michael Reiner, 52, has not been seen since Friday, May 31, when he did not show up to work. Federal authorities have been searching for him ever since.
Reiner was released from prison last year, but was still being supervised by probation officers.
Reiner had taught grades 4 to 6 at the Long Island School for the Gifted in Huntington Station.
When he was arrested, investigators found child porn on his computer and also writings about cannibalism and eating children.
