Police: Man Sought For Stealing Chains From Women On F Train In Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking a man accused of trying to rip the chains off of women's necks while riding the subway in Manhattan.

Three times between July 27 and August 7, police said the man walked up to women while riding the F train and tried to grab a chain they were wearing.

In the first two incidents, police said he fled empty-handed because the chains either fell to the floor or did not break off the woman's neck.

In his last attempt, he was able to get away with a chain he snatched from a 74-year-old woman near the East Broadway station, police said.

There were no reported injuries.

Police have released surveillance images of the suspect.
