Staten Island Children's Museum
1000 Richmond Terrace
Staten Island, NY 10301
The Staten Island Children's Museum is an extremely kid-friendly and fun environment. Every exhibit is geared towards educating and entertaining children. The 'Game Room' is a fun attraction. Each game's pieces are huge and children learn how to play the game while they pick up and move pieces from one spot to the next. Admission is $6, and everyone in the family will enjoy this museum.
Staten Island Zoo
Staten Island, NY 10310-2896
The Staten Island Zoo is a cool place for children to explore nature and its inhabitants. The zoo is relatively small, but is packed with an assortment of animals from a variety of wild life genres. Each season, the zoo hosts a different theme in honor of the closest holiday. What really helps to set the scene is that the zoo is surrounded by trees, so that you really feel as if you are in an actual wildlife environment. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children.
Historic Richmond Town
441 Clarke Avenue
Staten Island, NY 10306
Established in 1958, Historic Richmond Town is an extremely popular attraction for both schools and families. The unique thing about this historical village and museum area is that many of the buildings (homes, businesses, etc.) are original - not replicas of the originals. It is a powerful experience to take your family here and allow them to get a glimpse of how people lived during the colonial period of our country's history. In addition to being educational, Richmond Town is also a lively place to visit. Special events (fairs, holiday events, etc.) and programs are constantly being hosted on their grounds. Be sure to check Richmond Town's online calendar in order to take advantage of this special place.
