State Unveils Design Options For New Tappan Zee Bridge
ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - The New York State Thruway Authority on Wednesday released three options for a new Tappan Zee Bridge.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said an advisory board favors the least expensive option, which would cost $3.14 billion.
The other two options both cost about $4 billion. All three came in under the initial cost estimate of more than $5 billion.
The final decision on which span will be chosen will be made by the Thruway Authority on Dec. 17.

According to a release, the bridge designs would take between five and six years to complete.
The public can weigh in on the three design options.
If the least expensive option is chosen, it could mean the toll increase may be smaller, according to the governor's office.
On Wednesday, the governor said he has not yet heard a decision about a federal loan for the span that would cover $2.4 billion to $2.9 billion of the cost.
It has been previously reported that the toll on the Westchester to Rockland span is expected to increase from $5 to $14.
Over the summer, county executives from Rockland, Westchester and Putnam voted unanimously to back construction of a new Hudson River span.
