Speaker Quinn Says She'll Put Brakes On NYC Property Tax Hike

"I think I speak for the vast majority of the City Council members that we are not interested and will not consider raising property taxes as a way to balance this year's budget or next year's budget," reacted speaker Christine Quinn on Tuesday.
Quinn says property tax payers are already doing more than their share.
"I simply will not entertain any proposal to raise property taxes even further," she said.
The mayor's press office denies a property tax hike is under consideration.
