Suffolk County SPCA Offers Reward After Someone Hammers A Nail Through Turtle

SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The Suffolk County SPCA has increased a money reward for information about whoever impaled a turtle with a nail at Sag Harbor.

The animal protection group said it found an Eastern Box Turtle with a 10 penny nail driven through it on July 5.

The turtle entered into the care of Wildlife Rescue and is expected to make a full recovery.

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA, called the incident a sick act. He is asking anyone with information to come forward.

The SPCA is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
