Somers' Monologue: Rangers 40 Minutes From Bitter Disappointment, Then Goal! Goal! Goal!
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Yes, it is good to be King!
The Rangers trailed 1-0 on Monday, didn't they?
The Senators were getting the best of Broadway. They were winning the battle, but hadn't yet won the war.
The Rangers had gone 145 minutes without a goal, but it seemed like 145 months, 145 years! The Blueshirts needed someone (or two or three) to save them.
They were 40 minutes away from the offseason, from hearing it from the crowd, from embarrassment, humiliation and bitter disappointment.
But there was the "King," Henrik Lundqvist, keeping it close.
And then came Derek Stepan! Goal!
Brad Richards! Goal!
Chris Kreider! Goal!
