Some Concerned About Surveillance Cameras In Glen Cove

Well, one resident says a plan to install over 50 licenses plate scanners downtown and along Route 107 that would snap images of every vehicle that enters and exits his community is too much, too far.

"It's an invasion of privacy. We need the funds for other things in this town. It's just a waste of money," said the resident on Tuesday.

Mayor Ralph Suozzi, meantime, says the images would be used to identify uninsured and stolen vehicles.

But most residents who WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs spoke to were worried about rights of privacy.

"Big Brother's watching everything you do," said one.
