Snowstorms Take Toll On NYC Blood Supply
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - The New York Blood Center is issuing an emergency appeal for donors.

It's Vice President, Rob Purvis, says in one snow day, they can lose an estimated 1,600 units of blood.

"You get hit with a snowstorm, we lose donations and we work our way back up," Purvis told WCBS 880 reporter Monica Miller. "We get hit again and we work our way back up. We reached a point, this time, where a couple of the blood types started to dip into that level where we get a little bit anxious. It gets a little too tight and we really wanted to, you know, respond quickly."
