Sighs Of Relief From Injured Giants

ALBANY, N.Y. – Hakeem Nicks and Shaun O'Hara broke into a grin several times while discussing their status between the cloudbursts – both players have missed time at camp with injuries but neither has been diagnosed with a serious problem.

Nicks was cleared to work his way back into practice on a one-a-day basis after two MRIs on his sprained knee. O'Hara said his swollen left foot is the product of "wear and tear" following an MRI, although he hinted the medical staff may have to manage him to keep him on the field. Coach Tom Coughlin said he expects O'Hara to return to practice on Monday.

The team practiced with pads for the first time during this camp and the only minor injury of the workout belonged to safety Deon Grant, who tweaked his groin but said he didn't expect to miss any time.

Here are a few of the other notable plays from the session:

  • RB D.J. Ware lowered his shoulder and ran through DE Dave Tollefson.
  • CB Terrell Thomas dropped an easy interception near the right sideline.
  • DE Mathias Kiwanuka returned a fumble when RB Brandon Jacobs was unable to handle the exchange.
  • WR Ramses Barden did a spin and reached back inside to share a sideline pass from QB Jim Sorgi.
  • CB Aaron Ross quickly closed and knocked down a pass intended for TE Bear Pascoe.
  • Sorgi threw an INT directly into the stomach of S Antrel Rolle.
  • QB Rhett Bomar completed an out route to diving WR Tim Brown, who made a fingertip grab.
  • Bomar had a pass go through the hands of TE Scott Chandler and Ross on the same play.
  • WR Sinorice Moss had a pass bounce off his hands and get picked off by CB Seth Williams.
