Sex In The City: New Survey Reveals Which Boroughs Are Getting Busy

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It may be the city that never sleeps but New Yorkers seem to be spending a lot of time in the bedroom.

An annual survey by the city's Department of Health asked men and women across the five boroughs how many sexual partners they have had in the last 12 months.

East Harlem came out on top with more than 19 percent claiming that they have had three or more partners in the last year, CBS 2's Tracee Carrasco reported Friday. Residents seemed unsure of what to make of the distinction.

"It's not like an issue to be saying that this is the most promiscuous place," Diana Orama said.

Orama said she was not among those counted.

"No partners in the last six years, so they can't say anything," she said.

Coming in just behind East Harlem were the Northeast Bronx, Washington Heights, Flushing Queens, and Staten Island.

One Staten Island resident wasn't too surprised.

"The North Shore, we're responsible. But, the more you migrate to the South Shore things get a little reality show like," Bain Coffman said.

The Pelham-Throgs Neck section of the Bronx apparently saw the least action in the last year with only 1.6 percent saying that they had three or more partners.

The study surveyed 10,000 people in 34 neighborhoods.
