Teen Dies A Day After Being Pulled From Water Off Sea Bright, N.J.

SEA BRIGHT, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- One of two teens pulled from strong rip currents off of Sea Bright has died a day later.

The two were swimming at an unguarded beach on Monday afternoon on Monday. Rough waves forced red flags to go up on Sea Bright public beaches Monday, but two teens got trapped the unguarded water just south of the Driftwood Cabana Club.

A Driftwood lifeguard pulled one victim out, who appeared to be fine. The other teen was nowhere to be found.

Within seconds, Sea Bright Ocean Rescue Capt. Mike Hudson was on the scene, recovering the second victim. He had been underwater for at least 15 minutes, and CPR was administrated.

Sea Bright Police Chief John Sorrentino told the Asbury Park Press that the second teen -- Kevin Seargross, 18 -- of Rockaway Township, New Jersey -- died at a hospital on Monday night.

Over the weekend, the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit also recovered the body of a missing swimmer offshore from Sandy Hook.
