NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Ice-covered sidewalks are creating hazards around the city -- but the Bronx seems to have it the worst.
The Sanitation Department said the borough has the most snow-removal violations for its size, WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported.
Bronx resident Victor Ortiz said abandoned and foreclosed properties don't have anyone tending to them.
Sanitation Department: Unkempt Sidewalks Worst In The BronxE
Outside 896 E. 167th. St. in Longwood, there were more than a dozen Sanitation Department tickets on a chain-link fence Wednesday. Neighbors say the sidewalk has not been shoveled all winter.
"It's not just here, though," Ortiz said. "It's everywhere around the Bronx.
"It's just sad," he added. "There's elderly people here. There's children here. You've got to dodge, be careful, you fall."
Walter Lambert, 68, was waddling Wednesday while navigating the inch-thick ice on East 167th.
"It's dangerous," he said.
