Sam Ash Music Store Employee Busts Alleged Thief For Stealing, Re-Selling $8,000 Horn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It was a stellar performance by Sam Ash Music Store employee Josh Landress on West 48th Street in Manhattan.

24-year-old Portia Sirinek had given local music stores a heads up that her $8,000 french horn had been stolen from an Upper West Side restaurant, and he recognized it when suspect Stephen Horne allegedly tried to hawk it to him for $1,000.

"[Landress] was just really thinking quickly and intelligently, and I think he did a great job," Sirinek told 1010 WINS' Eileen Lehpamer. "He just handled it so professionally."

Landress told Horne to come back with the horn in a few hours, and when he did the cops were waiting for him. He also texted Sirinek to let her know that her horn had been found.

"I loved it, and I was just devastated when I lost it," Sirinek said.

Horne is now facing charges and Sirinek, who once played a gig with Landress, has her horn back.
