Ribbon Cut On 5 New Soundstages At Brooklyn Navy Yard
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York City officials cut the ribbon Monday on five new soundstages at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

The new stages at Steiner Studios total 45,000 square feet and Mayor Michael Bloomberg says they will make it possible for the city to compete with Hollywood like never before.
"It used be that we struggled to attract productions to New York City and often they'd instead used other cities like Toronto or Prague to replicate New York," he said. "But now, our studios, I'm happy to say, are booked solid."

Bloomberg says that 190 films and 140 TV shows were shot in New York City last year and 13 TV pilots are already scheduled to be filmed in the city this year.
