Some big high-tech companies are bypassing resumes, at least initially.
This new - and growing - trend is developing because employers want to know what the Wall Street Journal's Rachel Silverman calls a job candidate's "online presence."
"So that could be a Twitter account or a Facebook account or a Tumblr, a blog, a website, anything that shows that the candidate is digital," she told WCBS 880 reporter Steve Knight.
Silverman says a candidate's online presence can often reveal more about an applicant's real personality than a resume can.
