Rangers Trade Derek Dorsett To Canucks For 3rd Round Pick

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Glen Sather is beginning to get busy.

The Rangers general manager completed a trade Friday that sent rugged forward Derek Dorsett to the Vancouver Canucks for a third round draft pick -- No. 85 overall -- in this year's draft, which begins Friday night.

That pick was acquired by the Canucks earlier in the day when they traded veteran center Ryan Kesler to the Anaheim Ducks.

The Rangers now have five picks in the draft: one in the second round (59th overall), two in the third round (85th and 89th), one in the fourth round (119th), and one in the fifth round (122nd). The Rangers do not have a first round pick because it was shipped to Tampa Bay, along with forward Ryan Callahan, in the deadline trade that brought Martin St. Louis to New York.

Dorsett had four goals, eight points and 128 penalty minutes in 51 games for the Rangers during the 2013-14 regular season. He added an assist and 19 penalty minutes during the Rangers' playoff run to the Stanley Cup Final.
