Jay-Z, Other Artists Back New York Lawmakers' 'Rap Music On Trial' Bill
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Jay-Z is one of many artists teaming up to block rap lyrics from being used in court.
New York lawmakers introduced the "Rap Music On Trial" bill in November.
It would end the use of rap lyrics as evidence in criminal cases, except in cases with "clear and convincing proof" of a link between the lyrics and a crime.
Artists say current law violates their First Amendment right to freedom of artistic expression.
