Long Beach city manager Charles Theofan said this year, some of the events had to be cancelled because of the hurricane.
Even so, the event was great for the city's economy.
"It was an astounding success. It did bring a considerable amount of business into [the] local community - in particular, for our hotel and for the restaurants in town and also retail purchases," he told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall.
He expects band performances and BMX demonstrations to accompany the surfing.
Theofan said many people came from out of state, which will likely be the case again next year.
