Frank Beyrodt, president of the Long Island Farm Bureau, said the right mix of rain and sunshine over the summer has produced a lot of big, healthy pumpkins.

"The weather's been cooperating and I've spoken to a number of the growers who are very happy and actually bragging about the conditions," he said. "Some of the pumpkin production that they've gotten, the yield has been great."

New York is one of the nation's top pumpkin producing states.
