The speed of those wind gusts could be between 40 to 50 m.p.h. Those conditions have prompted a high wind warning, which will be in effect from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon for New York City and Long Island.
Despite the unseasonably mild temperatures we've enjoyed earlier this week, this weekend will be much colder. Temperatures will be mostly in the 40's on Saturday and Sunday.
It has been quite a wacky week of weather, that included snow Friday morning in the Hudson Valley and in northwestern New Jersey.
With that snow melting and the periods of rain that followed, the weekend winds could potentially make conditions ripe for falling trees.
Saturday will see a high temperature of 46 and a low of 28. Sunday won't be as windy and will feature plenty of sunshine and a high of 42.
