Suspect Arrested In Harlem Sex Assault
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested a suspect wanted in a Harlem sex assault. Kentrel Whitaker, 32, was apprehended Tuesday night and charged with attempted rape and assault, police said.
Authorities said Whitaker grabbed a 73-year-old woman jogging near the footpath on the FDR Drive and East 111 Street, threw her to the ground and assaulted her on Sept. 15.
Area residents reacted to the news Tuesday afternoon.
"Of course we're concerned. Anything can happen any time....it's terrible," one woman in the neighborhood told CBS 2's John Metaxas.
"Very sorry to hear that anybody is hurt in any way. But I don't like to think this neighborhood is pegged as a dangerous neighborhood because I don't think it is," another woman said.
