Police Search For Suspect Who Assaulted Elderly Woman In Ridgewood

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are on the hunt for a man who they said assaulted an elderly woman in Queens earlier this week.

According to police, an 82-year-old woman was walking at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Seneca Street in the Ridgewood section of Queens at around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday when the suspect came up from behind and punched her in the side of her face.

Officials said the blow caused bruising and swelling.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or black male, approximately 25 to 30 years old, and 5'7" tall. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt with a design in white.
