Police: Man Stole $2,995 Watch From L.I. Outlet Store

RIVERHEAD, NY (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a man they say stole a watch from an outlet store on Long Island.

It happened back on Oct. 9 around 4:15 p.m. at the Movado Outlet in Riverhead.

Police say a man walked into the store and asked to $2,995 watch. The clerk took the watch out of the case and handed it to the man who then took a picture of it, gave it back to the clerk and walked out.

Police say he returned 10 minutes later and asked to try the watch on. But this time, police say, when the clerk handed him he the watch he took off, jumped into a dark-colored SUV and fled.

Police say the suspect is about 6 feet tall with a medium build and was wearing a dark two-tone baseball cap, blue jeans and a multi-colored T-shirt.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
